On both the 3 Day and 5 Day I lost muscle strength (determined by max weight and repetition ability on various Planet Fitness machines). It took weeks to recover the loss in muscle strength.

Did you still do your weight training through the fast?
I keep doing the weight training when fasting (I stop to the aerobic exercise) and I find only a tiny loss of strength that comes straight back after the first feed.

TedB wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 11:37 am I did a 7 day fast back in November. Had good support here. I lost about 15 pounds and kept it off and actually am down 20 pounds now.

I still intermittently fast.

I really i am glad i did that 7 day fast, but i don't see myself doing it again for a very long time!

I did not get my usual aches and pains this winter, and i attribute it to NMN but maybe the fasting helped.

I do feel the cold a bit more, but being 20 pounds lighter.. i lost a couple fur coats in weight!

The “down side” to being trim and terrific TedB is that you lose a certain amount of the insulation barrier to the cold.
But overall a far better and healthier way to be.
Remember with any weight loss you are trimming the internal “brown fat” as well but in saying that, the brown “organ fat” is always the last to go..

Have cold showers, a shore fire way to build brown fat

Over 3 years I have gradually built up to a minimum 3min cold shower every day (you know you start small on these things ). I can handle the cold now much better than I ever used to, changed my life. If you have told me 4 years ago to try and have a cold shower I would have said no way, hate the cold not interested in even thinking about trying!

3 minute cold shower doesn't sound like starting small to me!

Sorry to be clear It took 2 years to get to a 3 minute shower, have been doing it for just over 1 year now.

Starting off from hot shower to a cooler rinse for 5-10 sec at the end, build up from there!

You guys almost make it sound fun.

What did you drink during the fast? NLS? Ted?

I have been using Valtor Longos prolong fast mimicking protocol for a few years now. Which is basically 800 calories a day(with some restrictions) for 5 days. It has been hugely beneficial, and out of all things I do it seems to have made the biggest impact.

The fasting was hard the first time, but now i find it pretty easy. I kind of enjoy it actually, it's like a mental strength test.

It wasn't until the third fast that my metabolism seemed to ramp up, and now I struggle to put weight on.

I had 3 coffees per day and just a lot of water.

Occasionally I would have watery chicken soup.

Just finished my first 36hr fast!

Not completely fasted as I did have 2 black coffee's and 2 green teas (I also eat the leaves) and a peppermint tea + of course loads of water.

I did still take in supplements: 1 x NAD Complete, 1 x NMN 250g SLC capsule powder w/ 100mg TMG and 7.5G zinc, 480mg LSG NMN and 80mg LSG Resveratrol, 1 x LIPO CaAKG, 1 x LIPO HLA and 1 x LIPO Glutathione. LIPO formulations rock when you have no food!

A little hungry last night, had a good sleep though but this morning I could of kept going as I was not feeling hungry. I lost 2kg, likely only approx. 1.5kg of real weight as there was one more toilet visit after the initial weigh in :)

Next mission is a 2 day fast, then 3 day fast one day soon...

Re-feeding I started with some lightly salted chickpea snacks, then my super smoothie.

well done Boxcost
(and as far as i'm concerned, black coffee and green tea are allowed, and although I stop all the supplements, I doubt that matters if you keep taking them).

Well I am down 25 pounds. I am very pleased. It is a combination of the fisetin and the fasting.

I think I will continue the process until I get down to another 15 pounds.
