Getting Resveratrol into the Brain

Post by PJM »

I am interested in using resveratrol to combat tinnitus (commonly described as "ringing in the ears"), Tinnitus is not fully understood, but hyperactivity in the part of the brain known as the dorsal cochlear nucleus (DCN) is a key factor.  Michael Seidman, MD first began studying the use of resveratrol to treat hearing loss and tinnitus over decade ago and other researchers have followed.  There have been positive results in lab research but resveratrol isn't a standard treatment for these conditions.

Resveratrol is also of interest for prevention and treatment of a variety of neurological disorders, among them Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

The ability of resveratrol to cross the blood-brain barrier is a problem, however.

Researchers in Italy were able to dramatically increase the levels of resveratrol reaching the CNS through nasal delivery of chitosan-coated lipid microparticles. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6262174/

Is production of resveratrol in this form economically feasible at this point?  Has Alive By Science considered making such a product?

Thanks,

P.J.

PS Also note the use of other techniques/nanomaterials for delivery of resveratrol to the brain are discussed here: Resveratrol Brain Delivery for Neurological Disorders Prevention and Treatment (nih.gov) and may also be of interest.

Hi P.J.
There are some real experts on here.

What AliveByScience offers now is likely the very best solution to getting RSV into your brain.

https://alivebyscience.com/product/lipo ... sveratrol/

Previously i had been taking capsules with brown powder inside, and was watching a Video between Dr. David Sinclair and Dr. Rhonda Patrick where Dr. Sinclair casually mentioned that once resveratrol turns brown it becomes inactivated.

So here is also a link to research about Liposomal delivery.

Try to take it with piperine (pepper). There are some studies that show taking resveratrol with piperine helps with absorption and getting it into the brain:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24804871/

Actually piperine is amazing, should be in everyone's diet.  A "force multiplier" when combined with a number of foods, as an example with turmeric for significantly more absorption of curcumin.

The bioavailability is increased sometimes up to 2000 %  with just about everything taken including food and supplements. Piperine is a must just about every time you put something in your mouth.

It's true, that for things like curcumin, piperine is like what fat does with other substances as far as improving bioavailability.

As good as Piperine is, it is not always the case of “more the better.”
I was told some time ago by the manufacturers of a combination Turmeric product that although their formula has Piperine in it that too much can affect and downgrade or possibly burn off the active ingredient Curcumin..

Well at any rate, Liposomal is the superior method to get virtually anything into our system.

As far as the blood-brain barrier goes, I am not clear on what would prevent RSV from getting into anywhere there is blood flow.
