Niacin

Post by Ozbuckley »

Hi, I wasn't sure where to put this topic so correct me if it belongs somewhere else.  I'm currently taking 500mg of NMN. I have a bunch of Niacin powder a bought a year ago but haven't really touched at all.  Would there be any benefits or downsides in adding say 500mg of niacin to my daily supplement stack? Would it be overdoing the b3 intake? Thanks

I think it is good to take Niacin occasionally, possibly on our day off (i take 2 per week) of taking NMN, since it is a precursor.

I will wait for some of the specialistsa to weigh in, but I would rather use up all of the highly productive precursor that use a mild one.

In my reading of various precursors, I don't think one interferes with the other. For example NAD+ boosted by fasting is not influenced by taking NMN. Or vice versa. So taking Niacin can syupplement NMN quite nicely, as I understand it.

I think once we are past 35 we can pretty much stack as many precursors as we like... but my go to will be the Lipo capsules. The trojan horse delivery method. I can really feel the difference... I am definitely getting more NMN.

Very glad to be part of the ABS bioavailability journey.

Thank you Dr. Kris.

I am excited to be doing this for my body and life span, and am interested in learning about the other supplements fellow forum users are taking.

It does feel like I am turning back time.

Thats awesome! So I just started the Fisetin Protocol this past weekend and I already feel a difference. You would do it for 3 days on and then repeat every 30 days for 5 months. I think you would benefit from this Longevity treatment. Look into it here on the forum if you have questions. I have been feeling amazing this week. I see 70 to 80 patients per day and Ive been crushing thru all of them with plenty of energy left to where I then go workout after work for at least an hour. I think Im slowly turning into a super soldier thanks to ABS's products! All kidding aside, I am feeling alot younger than my biological age of 52. :D

I take the occasional Niacin, but I don't rely on it for boosting NAD+.

NMN and niacin are both related to the B-vitamin family and play roles in cellular energy production, metabolism, and overall health. NMN is a precursor to NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), a molecule involved in various cellular processes. Niacin can also be converted into NAD+ through a different pathway.

When considering adding niacin to your supplement stack along with NMN, there are a few things to keep in mind:

Overlapping Functions: Both NMN and niacin contribute to NAD+ production, which is important for cellular energy and various biological processes. Adding niacin might increase the NAD+ levels further, potentially amplifying the effects of NMN.

Dosage: The total dosage of niacin matters. Too much niacin can lead to a condition called niacin flush, characterized by skin flushing, itching, and warmth. It's essential to monitor your body's response to niacin supplementation and adjust the dosage accordingly.

Individual Variability: People can have different tolerance levels to niacin. Some may experience niacin flush even at lower doses, while others might tolerate higher doses without significant side effects.

Benefits and Downsides: Niacin has its own set of potential benefits, including support for cardiovascular health, improved cholesterol levels, and skin health. However, excessive niacin intake can lead to adverse effects, including liver issues and digestive problems.

Interaction with Medications: Niacin supplementation can interact with certain medications, so it's crucial to inform your healthcare provider about any supplements you are taking, including NMN and niacin.

Consult a Professional: Given the potential interactions and individual differences, it's strongly recommended to consult a healthcare professional before introducing niacin or making any changes to your current supplement regimen. They can provide personalized advice based on your health status, goals, and potential interactions .
