Re: David Sinclair’s commentary on the NMN transporter
Dr Brenner submitted a paper claiming Slc12a8 is not an NMN transporter:

But Dr Imai shut him up immediately with a convincing response:
"We appreciate the authors’ insightful comments and the opportunity to clarify the important issues related to our recent publication. However, their claim of ‘absence of evidence’ has no concrete foundation and the data in our article strongly support our conclusion that Slc12a8 is an NMN transporter, although there are still many interesting questions regarding the structure and function of Slc12a8 as an NMN transporter"

What is the significance of Slc12a8
I am just curious as to why it is significant that this protein is an NMN transporter.

I think because it proved that NMN can be transported into the cell. Finding the corresponding transporter completed the story and make this statement more solid.NewLifeScience wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 6:52 pm What is the significance of Slc12a8

Transporters are also very important to understand when attempting to develop new pharmacological compounds.
