Can Olive Oil be a good base for a serum

Post by NewLifeScience »

Does anyone know if you can make a good skin or scalp serum with Olive Oil as a base?

I've read where results on skin seem to be mixed (good or bad)   it can be a little tough on skin,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olive_oil#Skin_care

Where topical application damaged the skin barrier in ojne study...

I am kind of skeptical... it is nothing but soothing for mine.. maybe there was an allergy element.

but it mostly has a great reputation for cell health

i think Olive Oil is a good topical and edible compound for skin rejuvenation and body rejuvenation, but i have no idea about using it as a serum.

as I understand it, a serum is a stable liquid that keeps the healthystuff in suspension (it won't decompose or change state) and also help carry additives deep into your skin.

I just don't know. There may be better liquids for a serum stabilizer, like squalene for example, which seems popular.

So maybe Olive Oil or at least Oleic Acid and any other ingredients in a Squalene base.

I agree drkris69. It’s exciting to add different things to Olive Oil using it as a base and then monitor the combined results..

So some of you think it would make a good base. is that because it is an acid?

Virgin Olive Oil has a Free Acidity level rating of between .8 to 2 %
The better the quality of the oil the lower the Acidity level.
