The 7 day rapamycin fast

I intend to do a 5-7 day fast. From an old article here, it seems you want to consume around 750 calories per day, although Fred called it kcal(s)

Does that just mean calories? Does that sound like a reasonable daily limit for the fast?

And how about protein? Is there a limit? If I recall it was no more than 15 grams.

Anyway - it will be quite a run.

750 calories is approximately 37% of the average adults daily RDI of energy source.
Sounds like a lot of calories to me to implement into a fast and I think the 15 grams of protein sounds about right.

Yeah that sounds too high.

I don't quite get what kCal means, or if it is just the European way of saying calories. Otherwise it would mean 750000 calories - lol.

I think i will shoot for 500 calories and make it mostly veggies and the limited protein.

I have previously worked on 2000 kilojoules which is just under 500 calories and low protein (about 15 grams)
That allows for a small amount of chicken or beef added to a large salad in one evening meal. The added benefit is “watch the weight drop off” even in one week..

You are not kidding! 500 cal daily and you will loose the weight! I also think that would be a healthy practice to do several times throughout the year.

Sounds like a good idea.

I might try this fast. I think Fred said it could be done in 5 days as well.

not really looking for such a big calorie restriction, but want the rapamycin boost.

hey guys
Yes 5 days is enough. you'd likely get a more rapalogic affect with 7, and if you are looking to lose weight, also with 7.

I will wait until my next cottage holiday to do this again.

It felt great while I was doing it, and also just knowing i was turning the time back a bit.

Go for it!

I think i could do this in the summer - with lots of water, and sunshine.

I could do 500 calories per day. The hardest part will be at night. But maybe I will save my calories for then.

That's great, good luck, canadahealthy!  Coincidentally, I've been reading about "caloric density" lately, and I reckon the concept might be useful for fasting as well as in general -- not a new concept, but something to keep in mind when you're selecting foods based on calories:

Excerpt from:  "Calorie Density — How to Lose Weight Eating More Food" (https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/ca ... what-it-is)
Choosing foods with a low calorie density can help with weight loss. It makes you automatically eat fewer calories while still eating large and filling portions (5Trusted Source6).An easier way to make sense of this is to imagine a full plate of food. The fewer calories the plate contains, the lower the calorie density of the meal.A vegetable with 30 calories per 100 grams has a low calorie density, while chocolate that has 550 calories per 100 grams has a very high calorie density

I don't know about 7 days, having failed at 45 hours first time I tried a fast back in January, but I'm just embarking on my second attempt and aiming for 3 days (plus a few hours) water only as I believe autophagy really kicks in on day 3 (and I'm not looking to lose any weight).
