Repair, Regrow, Regenerate - the Emerging Science of Regenerative Therapy
Northwestern University is leading the way in the new field of regenerative medicine. Salamanders, for example, can regrow their spinal cord, heart and limbs while many crab species can regrow claws. Although the human body can do a lot, severing the spinal cord is almost always permanent. But over the past year, Northwestern researchers have seen stunning results from the latest regenerative therapies, including many who have suffered spinal cord injuries as a result of car accidents and gunshot wounds.
