Green Tea Is Associated With Reduced All-Cause Mortality Risk

A 2015 study showed that green tea (up to 5 cups per day) was associated with a reduced all-cause mortality risk. The study included a total of about 165,000 people.

Another study in 2019 of more than 313,000 people also showed a statistically significant reduced mortality risk. View the YouTube video below:

Lots of great evidence on the health benefits of Green tea and it is in my diet, I even eat the leaves but would only average 4-5 cups a week as I just don't get the opportunity to get more in!

So my LIPO Green Tea extract just arrived today, tomorrow morning starts 1 capsule / 6 times a week.

The open question I have is that the study referenced on the RBS product page sights 200mg (twice daily) of the LIPO Green Tea extract vs the capsule dose is 75mg with recommendation to only take one a day?

Per day 400mg vs 75mg is a big difference so this does appear contradictory.

Liver toxicity has been associated with green tea extract supplements.  :o
So I am holding off purchasing this new Lipo version.  Too many resports of it out there.

Thanks for pointing this out. I now understand better by the RBS formulation and daily recommendation is at 75mg, it's the classic too much of a good thing problem!

Good timing as well for me, I am scheduled for a blood test end of February, will be interesting if any marker has changed for my liver after a month on LIPO Green Tea.

You're welcome. I have issues with my liver enzymes. I have fatty liver and the enzymes go up and down depending on my weight. If I lose then they go down. So essentially I always check Pub Med to see if anything I am about to do will affect my liver. Hopefully your liver was not affected by your month of Green Tea. Perhaps a month is not enough to make a difference....but not sure if I'd do long term.

Based on the green tea extract study at the Cellg8 website, and doing the calculations, I estimate that the 75 mg of green tea extract is roughly equivalent to 1.87 times 400 mg of standard green tea extract in terms of egcg content, or about 750 mg of egcg. This is below the 800 mg that is thought to be the lower limit for egcg that could cause liver problems. However, for the metabolite of egcg that is considered more stable, gallocatechin gallate, it is 4.5 times 400 mg, or 1800 mg of green tea extract equivalent for this metabolite.

Personally, given the evidence that this lipo green tea extract will likely have a longer biological halflife in the human body, I intend taking it only 4-5 days a week.

That sounds reasonable.  I'm taking one capsule daily but will not exceed that dose for the reasons you mentioned.  Have noticed a bit more energy in my workouts.
