It has taken a while for this study to sink in, it is only a small one but the results are striking...mixing high polyphenol oxidase (PPO) based food with Flavan-3-ols based food impairs the " bioavailability of flavan-3-ols, and most likely other dietary polyphenol bioactives" - buy a whopping 84%!
When I first read this study it was Noooooooooooooooooo! - I have been mixing banana / ripe banana in a smoothie with berries and cacao powder nearly every day for 20 years!

And of course, last couple of years... yeah Beet greens are good for you, so I 'used' to occasionally chuck them in the smoothie as well
